Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #199
www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com
April 7, 2015

Quilting Friends,

Usually my newsletters consist of a bunch of events that are scheduled within the year.  This time, after a few scheduled events, there is a long list of other types of announcements, so be sure to read to the end.

If you’re in the Orlando area, please make it a point to visit the Quilt Exhibit And Still We Rise at The Orange County History Center before May 3rd.  More info here.

A request for more info: "There are some ladies in our quilt club that are very interested in visiting the Quilt Show in Paducah in 2016 OR 2017.  Do you have any tips or contacts or resources to help them?  They don’t even know where to start…..  If anyone else has visited that huge, wonderful show, would you feel OK to send them my email and they could contact me?"
Please contact Mary-Jeanine and I’ll send your email along to Virginia

To get a complete, organized, hotlinked listing of all the Florida upcoming shows, retreats, workshops, shop hops, exhibits, etc, please visit the Calendar
Happy Quilting,   Mary-Jeanine
PS: I love to hear from you, so drop me a line sometime!

TRENTON QUILT SHOW WRAP UP

Trenton, Florida – Starting with a cool overcast morning, and concluding in a bright sunny afternoon, the Eighth Annual Trenton’s Suwannee Valley Quilt Festival, March 21, 2015, was bigger and better than ever before.  Featuring 79 craft and food merchants, 20 quilt groups and numerous demonstrations, festival visitors enjoyed a special spring outdoor treat on Main Street.

New this year were special exhibits in the Florida Quilt Museum and new quilt display stands, built by students at Trenton High School, that allowed for up close inspection of quilting magic.  Live entertainment (by Dave and Friends and the Suwannee River Sweethearts at the Depot, Pete Enroe near the Journal office, and John Orlando at City Hall), children’s rides, classic tractors and cars, food and dancing, all added to the enjoyment.  Casually sauntering up and down Main Street, visitors experienced a relaxing atmosphere full of amazing color and quilting excellence.

The Ninth Annual Trenton’s Suwannee Valley Quilt Festival, Florida’s only outdoor quilt show and sale, will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 in the picturesque town of Trenton, Florida. Located in north central Florida just 20 miles west of Gainesville, Trenton will be festooned with quilts flying from shops, businesses and government buildings up and down Main Street and beyond.

For more information about the festival, visit us on Facebook, go to the festival website www.TrentonQuiltFestival.com, or contact the Suwannee Valley Quilt Shoppe, (352) 463-3842 or Pat Watson, (352) 494-9913.

QUILT PROGRAM IDEA

Horrible Happenings at the Winery,  is a new Quilt Murder Mystery Dinner. I'm expecting that it will go to the printer's in mid-may. The Twisted Threadz Guild is at it again. They entertained us in Murder at Pieceful Lake and now they're hanging an exhibit at a winery. Dora Drunket, Savi YonBlanc, Syrah Riesling and several other new members join a few of our old favorites; Allie Fresco, Angelina Collage and Gettie Dunn. Polly Esther is dead and we must find out who did her in. More information at www.quiltmurdermysterydinner.net.
