AI-generated content may be incorrect.I’m loving the plus sign quilts I’ve seen lately, andthis one is so easy…its just a 9 patch made with 3.5” squares.  Click on the picture to see the details.  And the quilting!  Up close I was about to take it all out, but from a little farther away, I just love it.  Whew!   (I also talked about it at my June TTT video)

Does your guild have pipes and drapes that you no longer use?  Seaside Piecemakers is looking to buy more pipes and drapes for our 2026 show.  Call Eleanor Moland 407-702-9144 or Eleanor@eleanormoland.com

You may not know that the Calendar page on the website is a quick way to view upcoming events all over the state.  Give it a look-see.

PS: if you're in the market for a machine but the ones highlighted below don't work for you, keep reading for the "Still Available" section, where I quick-list previous ads.

Happy Quilting,

Most of you know this, but if you’re new to the newsletter, I have three items of interest:

-       I do travel the state of Florida and present my Stashbuster series of lectures, as well as a bunch of classes that I love to teach. Check out my offerings here.  Feel free to email me for more information.

-

-       On the 4th Saturday of each month I present a FREE event called Tips Tools & Techniques Club.  If you’re local (Central Florida) feel free to swing by at 10am to The Sewing Studio in Maitland.  If you’re NOT local, or traveling, check it out online.  Here is a playlist of past shows, and shoot me an email if you’d like to get a fresh link to the online version each month.

-

-       I keep a database of charity sewists, mostly in Central Florida, who are open to donations of fabric, notions, machines, etc.  If you’d like to be added to this list, OR if you know someone who is looking to donate their stash, let me know.

QUILT EXHIBIT IN OCALA

Sept 6, 2025 – Feb 22, 2026

Appleton Museum of Art

4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd Ocala, FL  34470

“Under the Cover of Knowledge” highlights the work of nationally recognized Florida-based artist and quilter Betty Ford-Smith (American, b. 1951), whose hand-sewn Pinecone Quilts transform a traditional bedcover into extraordinary works of art.

Drawing inspiration from 19th- and early 20th-century pinecone quilts, Ford-Smith blends research, technique, and muscle memory into a meditative practice that can take more than six months and over 4,000 individually cut and folded fabric pieces to complete a single quilt. Her process begins with a small square at the center and radiates outward in concentric circles, echoing the rotation of stars around a galactic core.

QUILT SHOW IN PUNTA GORDA

A Gathering of Quilts

Feb. 13, 2026, 9 to 5  & Feb 14, 2026, 9 to 4

A Gathering of Quilts is a celebration of traditional and modern quilting.  Located in the Charlotte Harbor Event Center, 75 Taylor St, on the downtown waterfront of Punta Gorda, the event features vendors, a basket raffle, a boutique full of handmade items for purchase, demonstrations and a book signing by Carla Klop, classes by Bobbie Burquist and an opportunity for all attendees to stitch a pillow case that will be donated to Ryan’s Cases for Smiles.  All of these activities are highlighted by a display of 200 or more handmade quilts that have been judged by a nationally certified quilt judge.  Some of the display quilts are hung together in themed groups.  There will be a grouping of small quilts that are created around children’s books and another grouping of Americana-themed quilts celebrating our country’s 250th anniversary, as well several quilt show challenge groups.

On Saturday at 11 am there will be a Quilt of Valor presentation.  Four (4) veterans will be honored each with a quilt in honor of their service.  It is a beautiful and moving presentation.

This event is sponsored by Disconnected Piecers Quilt Guild of Port Charlotte, a non-profit (501c3) organization that donates hundreds of quilts each year to Head Start, Hospice, and C.A.R.E.  We do Quilts of Valor presentations a few times each year to honor local veterans. We also donate pillows and fidget mats to hospice and bedding to the SPCA.  Your support of this event helps to make the continuation of those donations possible.

Snacks and beverages are available at the concession stand.

For more information about our guild, this event or for advanced tickets, please go to www.dpqginc.com
