Quilting Friends,
Some of you may have seen this beautiful post on the Central Florida Quilters
Facebook page. If not, please read, and keep the tissues handy:
I wanted to share this memory.
I grew up in foster care. I
lived in a girls group home when we were all told to go to the main house.
I entered and there were
beautiful quilted blankets in all the colors of the rainbow hung upon the
walls. We were then told to pick one that we liked.
We each picked one, at least 50
girls, and pinned our name on them.
I think it was Christmas when we
each received a present and it was the quilt that we had chosen. We received a
gift that belonged to us and no one could take away.
I’ve cried into this blanket,
hid under it when I was scared, and used it to make a fort with my son.
That was 35 years ago and I
still have and use this wonderful gift. It’s priceless, a little tattered and
worn, but so am I.
When I pull it out of the closet
I’m reminded of a time when there was little happiness and security. This was
one of the most brilliant memories I have, it’s all MINE.
I’m forever grateful to the
people who made this wonderful always giving present for me.
You may never know how your
kindness will affect the recipient and make memories.
I don’t know if this guild is
still around or if the name was changed. I’ve had an overwhelming response from
my quilting group and thought you may appreciate it too.
PS from MJ: the Central Florida Quilters Guild (Sanford)
disbanded in 2008, but most of the members continue to quilt for others!

the adjustable table, dozens of pre wound and Bernina bobbins, extra needles,
items that came with machine, ,machine quilting rulers, feet # 24,72,74,96, two

Machine and table in perfect like new condition.
Footprint is 36” x 48”and extends to 36” by 60”. Truly a super, trouble free quilting
experience.

bring longarms to you, we will be visiting quilt shows, and hosting events at
hotels in every region of the state. These shows will host a variety of
information about shopping for a longarm, and will showcase what APQS has to

FABRIC PAINTING WORKSHOP IN PEMBROOK PINES
January 11, 2024
12 noon
Trinity Lutheran Church, 7150 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, FL
Each participant will select one of six designs. The designs are
approximately 18 x 18 square, with each pattern pre-quilted with batting and
backing.
Once dry, your painted quilt block can be used in a quilt, a tote bag,
or any project you wish.
Paints and all supplies are included in the $20 fee.

newly Refurbished, Celebrity Reflection will be your sewing room for this
weekend get away. A fully equipped
workroom will be available with Janome 4120 quilting machines, supplied by TOPS

Departure
is Friday, August 2, 2024 from Port Everglades. You can get sewing right
away, or unwind for a bit, stroll the decks, and indulge in all the ship has to
offer.
Saturday,
August 3, is a full day at sea, which means you have uninterrupted sewing
time. So bring those UFO’s with you or
start something new.
On
Sunday, August 4, we arrive in Nassau for the day, and you may go ashore, stay
on board and sew, or both.
We
arrive back in port on Monday morning.
